As the school year winds down we will be reading fairy tales, folktales, and enjoying the flowers of spring too- through books.
All books will be due back in the library by May the 14th. I hope I get each and every one returned this year before school lets out.
The Athena software I presently use in the library has become obsolete. Thanks to the PTO and their generosity, I will spend the rest of the school year learning how to use the new Hunter system software that will be used next school year.

Tech
May is Fairy Tale month in our Media Center. We are excited about showing off some new fairy tale books illustrated by Jim LaMarche, including The Elves and the Shoemaker and The Carousel.
Students will use the month of May to review several of our software programs, including keyboarding, Kidspiration, and KidPix. We will enjoy a special free day to play some fun games as our school year comes to an end.
I have almost completed our Technology Assessment for the year. Each grade level has progressed nicely and easily met our requirements for the next year. I am proud of what your child has accomplished in the Tech Lab. Please encourage them to use good keyboarding skills as they use home computers this summer. Always encourage them to keep both hands on the keyboard.
Next year, our school will be using Hunter Systems Software to be used in our classrooms, in the office, and in our library. The software will provide a great database for our PTO committees to use for our fundraisers during the year. We have completed some software training and will continue it as school begins next fall.
Our PTO has been a great supporter of technology at Prince of Peace. We will soon begin construction on our new classrooms, including a tech lab in our elementary building. All students in the school will benefit from having more access to technology. It will be a great resource for completing projects, and also to meet keyboarding standards by having more time each week to work on accuracy and performance.
I would like to thank our Technology Team for their help and support this year. Our members are Jim George, Dan Catt, Terry Catt, Theresa Reardon, Katie King, Connie Angstadt, and Dave Hauer. They give countless hours of their time and expertise to keep our computers functioning properly. Our team members attend many after- hours planning sessions to ensure that Prince of Peace is always ready to meet any technological challenge.
